In Rwanda, a company that produces clothing for the United Nations, EHVF, recently asked for the U.N. to make its own products. By using foreign suppliers, EHVF wants to make garments for the world. This includes garments from garment makers in other developed countries across the world, such as India, the Philippines, China, and Japan. EHVF sells the garments to the global fabric maker FabricNet to make apparel.
In South Africa, it has partnered with local apparel companies such as Givac, Urban Sports, and Hargreaves Lansdowny. A third company, U.S.-based Y.V.V.E. In the United States, W.Y.W.M.X. has offered garments to the world for the past 12 years. Under the partnership the U.N., EHVF, and Y.V.V.E. are building a partnership that is worth over 25 million rand.
“In the 21st century, you have to think about the U.N. with great care,” says Shabib Afu.
